Nvidia is mostly known as a GPU manufacturer. But they made a huge mark in the mobile console department with their Nvidia Shield. Last year, they released the tablet counter part of the device called the Shield Tablet which is made to please. It delivers console like performance in a compact form factor.



 Physically, the Shield Tablet does look quite nice. The back of the tablet is made of soft touch plastic with the NVIDIA logo on the back. The device is comparatively quite thick. The device does have expandable storage via Micro SD card. The device has all the essentials and some extras on the exterior including the Mini- HDMI ports on the top if you are using it in portrait. The speakers on the tablet are front facing which is quite nice to see including the two on the sides. So, the audio of the tablet is very immersive. 

Nvidia Shield Tablet Specifications
The Nvidia Shield Tablet comes with an 8 inch 1080p. display. The display has a pixel density of 283 PPI. The display is quite good. The Shield Tablet can be connected to a HD TV via HDMI which is a great inclusion. Inside, the Nvidia Shield Tablet is an absolute beast with top of the line specifications. It comes with Nvidia's Tegra K1 which is a quad core Cortex processor clocked at 2.2 GHz. For the GPU, it features Nvidia's monstrous Kepler 1 SMX. It has 2 GB. RAM which provides an overall great multi-tasking experience. 

This tablet also shines in the benchmarks with a beastly score of 43000+ in Antutu Benchmarks. The Shield Tablet is one of the best gaming tablets out there. So, there is no compromise in the performance department if you are wanting to buy this tablet. Game Streaming is also available if you have a supported GeForce GPU on your PC or laptop. Nvidia's Beta Grid Cloud gaming is another major selling point for this tablet which allows you to play many PC games via the Nvidia servers in San Jose. But it's not fully available in all countries yet since it's a beta version. The sound quality on the Shield Tablet is great . The sounds are rich and they will provide you with a fantastic experience. A shield wireless controller is available since this is a gaming device. The Shield wireless controller is a great gaming mate and will improve your overall experience. However, you will have to pay a little extra for the controller. For the software, the Shield Tablet runs Android 4.4 which can be upgraded to Android 5.0 (Lollipop).  A stylus is included with the Shield Tablet which is great if you need it . Both the rear and the front cameras on the Shield Tablet are 5MP s. They do provide good pictures considering that it's a tablet after all. Perhaps, the biggest selling point of the Shield Tablet is the very very attracting price. The 16 GB. model costs around $299 whereas the 32 GB. costs $100 more. The Shield wireless Controller costs about $59. So, undoubtedly the Nvidia Shield Tablet is a gaming champion and a solid choice for those who want console like gaming in a compact form factor.
