The Surface Pro 3 is the third iteration of the surface pro series. The surface pro 3 brings all the features that you might need in a compact form factor. It has outstanding power under the hood but it also costs a premium amount. The surface pro 3 lets you do almost everything you can do on a desktop but in a much more compact and tablet like form. The Core i5 model of the Surface Pro 3 costs about $1400.
The whole device is almost 1 cm. thick. This model comes with a dual core Intel Core i5 processor clocked at 1.9 GHz. and has a turbo clock speed of 2.5 GHz. It also has a whopping 8 GB. considering its form factor and it also has a 256 GB Solid State Drive (SSD) inside. The device is beautifully crafted and looks very elegant. It also feels very nice in the hand. The device is made of magnesium alloy. The display size of the Surface Pro 3 is 12 inches and it's resolution is 2560x1440. The colors are rich and vivid with good contrast. The viewing angles on the Surface Pro 3 are great.
The display has a 4:3 aspect ratio. Due to that aspect ratio, black bars are going to be seen on the top and bottom of almost any video content. But the aspect ratio helps with the on screen keyboard typing experience and gives more room to view other content while typing. The 4:3 aspect ratio is highly beneficial while reading on the web or browsing websites as well. The touch interface is very accurate and smooth.
It runs Microsoft's Windows 8 OS which is changeable. The Surface Pro 3 has a great and responsive touch screen display. The display feels like a high end phone while using. A front camera is also available along with the 2 MP. camera on the back which is available in case you need it. But the camera is not that good. Two front facing stereo speakers are available but they are certainly not that great with very low sound. On the right side, there is a USB 3 port , mini display port and a magnetic charging block. The buttons on the Surface Pro 3 are well positioned and they also feel quite good. A micro SD card slot behind the device. The kick stand on the surface pro 3 really helps out a lot in many cases and it's also quite useful. A surface type cover can also be added with the surface pro 3. The type cover costs about $130 which is too much considering what it is. The surface type cover can be added to the surface pro 3 through a magnetic dock which is really strong and doesn't get detached easily. Typing experience on the surface type cover is outstanding which justifies its high price. A stylus is also available with the Surface pro 3 which is quite good. So, the surface pro comes with an outstanding amount of features within a compact size. Overall, it's a good device but it really doesn't justify its very high price. If it was priced a bit cheaper then it would be a solid choice for anyone. So, finally it's up to you. If you can afford to pay that premium price, then surface pro 3 is a great choice which makes no compromises in the functionality or power department and comes in a manageable size.
