ASUS is one of the most popular hardware vendors. They are known for the outstanding build quality of their products, great cooling and power efficiency, higher clock speeds, stylish looks in the GPU department.

Today, we are going to be talking about the GTX 980 Matrix Platinum. The GTX 980 is a flagship graphics card from Nvidia released year. Till now, it is the most powerful single GPU the company has ever made and it's also the fastest single GPU to date. The 980 features all of Nvidia's latest technologies like G-Sync which eliminates screen tearing without sacrificing frame rates, MFAA which provides great anti-aliasing without noticeable FPS degrade, VXGI and many other new technologies.

The 980 is a great card. ASUS further enhances the already great 980 by including it in their top tier Matrix Platinum line-up of cards. The 980 is based on the second revision of Nvidia's maxwell architecture. Nvidia's maxwell architecture is extremely power saving and it has been further enhanced in their second revision. The 980 is specially prepared for 4k gaming. The GTX 980 Matrix platinum has a significant boost on clock speeds over the reference card. The 980 Matrix has a base clock speed of 1241 MHz. and a boost clock speed of 1342 MHz. where as the reference one comes with 1126 and 1216 MHz. respectively. According to ASUS , the card performs 10% faster than the reference card in gaming. The memory clock on the 980 Platinum is 7010 MHz. (GDDR5).

The card is based on a 256-bit memory interface. It has a max resolution of 4096x2160. The card measures 11.7" x 6" x 1.6". The card features 224.4 GB/s memory bandwidth and has 2048 kilobytes of L2 Cache. It has 2048 shader processing units. The card is based on the 28nm. maxwell architecture. It comes with 128 mapping units. The matrix 980 has a texture fill rate of 158.8 G.Texel/s and a pixel fill rate of 79.4 G.Pixel/s. It has 64 ROPs (Render Output Units). The card has support for Microsoft's upcoming DirectX12. It supports OpenGL 4.4. A single 8 pin and 6 pin power connectors are required to deliver power to this card. A 600W. power supply is recommended for powering the card. The card has a maximum TDP of 300W. So, overall the GTX 980 Matrix Platinum is probably the fastest GTX 980 card out there.
